About
Chris Deavin, coaching people over 50 in Reigate
Face to face coaching, built on strength, sensible progression and habits that hold up in real life.

Chris coaches men and women over 50 in a private personal training studio in the heart of Reigate. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a personal trainer and health coach, almost three decades spent coaching real people through busy working lives, and the work is practical rather than theatrical. Learn to lift well, build strength you can use, keep your heart and lungs in good shape, eat enough of the right things and recover properly.
His qualifications and coaching specialisms cover Exercise and Fitness Coaching, Nutrition for Weight Loss and Longevity, and Lifestyle and Behaviour Change Coaching, which is why the coaching covers training, nutrition and behaviour rather than just workouts.
Over the years Chris has narrowed his focus to people over 50, because that is where coaching makes the biggest difference and where generic gym advice tends to fail. The priorities change, strength and muscle need protecting, joints and recovery need respecting, and the plan has to survive work, travel and family. That is the work he does every day in the studio.
Why this matters more after 50
Strength, cardiovascular fitness, muscle, movement quality and recovery all drift if nothing is asked of them, and after 50 there is less margin for letting that continue for years. Training becomes a way of protecting capability and resilience, so you can keep performing well at work, in sport, on trips, through demanding weeks and in ordinary daily life.
How coaching works
Every session is coached in person. You are watched, corrected and progressed, rather than handed a plan and left to it. Between sessions there is light accountability, so momentum does not depend on willpower alone.
- A conversation first, so the plan starts from your history and your goals.
- Movement and strength assessment, at a level that suits you.
- A programme written for your body and your week, adjusted as you progress.
- Nutrition and recovery support, kept simple and sustainable.
PerformanceSpan
Chris uses the same PerformanceSpan framework across his face to face coaching in Reigate and his online coaching at myHealthCoach. It is about extending the years in which you remain at or near your highest physical and mental capability, built on four pillars, Strength, Cardiovascular Fitness, Nutrition and Recovery. Read the full framework.
W.I.S.D.O.M.
W.I.S.D.O.M. is the behavioural framework behind consistency, the part that decides whether good intentions turn into years of steady training.
- Willingness, being genuinely ready to start and to keep going.
- Identity, becoming someone who trains, rather than someone trying to.
- Simple, keeping the plan simple enough to repeat on a busy week.
- Design, designing your week and environment so training happens.
- Overcome, planning for the obstacles that always turn up.
- Mindset, thinking long term, and staying steady when progress is slow.
Two ways Chris coaches
Reigate Over 50 & Strong is the face to face side, coached in the studio. myHealthCoach is the online side, including the 12 Week Get Back To Health Programme, for people who are not local. Same methodology, different delivery.
